Indoor

The Forest of Dean Radio Controlled car club was started in 2013 by a group of local enthusiasts who wanted a place to enjoy all things RC related. Since the clubs initial start in the Ruspidge Hall on a tiny 12x6m carpet area, we then grew to a 17×10 track area when the club was moved to Vantage Point. This is where the growth of the club expoloded with access to racing indoors, or a permanent track that offered fantastic grip and less needed to get the race nights up and running.

During the early months of 2022, we were informed that we needed to vacate the Vantage Point area as there had been building concerns within the block we rented, that the owners of the business park could only address once all tenants were out. We proceeded to move the entire club operation to the Miners Welfare Hall in Cinderford. Back to our roots of laying the carpet out every week, but still we enjoyed the same club buzz every tuesday when we race.

Our current track area in the Miners Hall maximises the space available, with a track vote every two months in our facebook group to determine the layout on the 15x10m carpet area we are able to offer racers. The track still yields some impressive grip week in, week out. A true testament to the grip that was laid out with the years of operation inside at Vantage points.

We race every tuesday of the year, with the first tuesday of each month set aside for a “pay and play” style evening. To give our members the chance to explore car setups and experiment with any ideas.

On our Tuesday race evenings, we aim to have the hall opened for 17:30 to get the track laid out as soon as we can. Racing usually starts at approximately 19:00 and we always aim to have 3 qualifiers and 1 final for all (numbers dependant).

We offer racing for most major on-road electric classes, but we will always try and cater for anyone who shows up with anything different (not nitro). 17.5t Touring Car, 2wd MChassis and Frontie are the most popular classes with cars in each every single week.
