Hello to all Valued club members and watchers on!

Sadly, this message won’t be filled with my usual cheer. After our committee meeting a week or so back, the committee has made a difficult decision to close the indoor side of the Forest of Dean Radio Controlled Car Club at the end of October.

There’s a few reasons for this, but mostly it’s down to the bank account. We have been struggling to break even when we open on a Tuesday and this has massively affected our bank balance. Even with the extra roll of carpet to entice more people with a bigger space to race, we’ve been noticing a drop in funds over the past few months.

Therefore the decision was made to save the cash we have, so that we can actually have some money in place when we get the lease through for the outside track that is planned. If we kept going at the rate we are, then the outside track would just be a pipe dream and nothing else.

I’m grateful to each and every person who has raced at the Miners hall in recent months, and I’m really sorry to have to be a bearer of bad news. I understand a few of you will have questions about all this, so feel free to drop me a PM and I can answer them. We will be pausing club memberships from the 24th, so you guys won’t miss out when we’re open at whatever place we find.

Our final night for racing at the Miners hall will be on the 24th October and we’ll be moving all the kit out from there into storage on the 28th. If anyone can spare some time to help with that, it would be gratefully received!

In more positive news, we are going to see if we can find somewhere locally to run once a month or more, but it needs to be a cost effective venue which won’t affect the bank balance! I have plans to head to another Cinderford Town Council meeting to see if we’re able to start work on the land with an agreement in principle for when the lease finally arrives (some issues with land registry is the latest).

Thanks all!
