Good morning FoD members, and Non members!
No, I haven’t opened the booking yet or figured out which tracks for Tuesday, but I do have some rather decent news to share with you all.
Last night, Wednesday, I attended the Cinderford Town Council meeting to see where we were at with the Steam Mills land for building a track (or two) on.
I’m pleased to report, the council were unanimous in their approval for us siting a container on said plot of land! Now, before you all get excited and start digging around your sheds for spades, forks and strimmers… We do still have some leg work to do on the admin side of life before we can start.
We need a lease from the council before we can begin anything down there, but I’m hoping we can get this approved and signed within the month. There will probably be some restrictions to noise levels, and times we have access, but we will of course keep you all in the loop as to what’s going on. I’m due to go down the new venue with a councillor or draw up exactly the area we wish to use and once that is done, we should be full steam ahead with it all and you can get your spades out.
The things we can do NOW, well…
– Source and price a container (30-40ft)
– Source and plan delivery of Astro turf
– Site plan the area
– Find any local companies who wish to sponsor the venture
The last point is really key to all of this. The club does not have a finite amount of money to get this all done; in reality, it would be make or break. So, if you or any of your friends and families work for any companies you think might be keen to support the creation of this facility, then please send me their details and I will schmooooze as much as I can! The club is also looking at grants we can apply for, but these are a time consuming task.
So there you go! We’re definitely over the first triple jump and the finish line is well and truly in sight!
