Morning!
The committee had a fantastic meeting last night (as you can see!) Thanks to The Farmer’s Boy Inn for allowing us a quiet area! Hugely appreciated.
A couple of important notes for you all to like and love…
1) Buggies are returning to the fod! We will allow buggies down to a 10.5t motor to be used, as long as they are blinky and not boost/turbo on the ESC. Obviously, we will assess this as it goes. The reasoning behind 10.5t is purely down to the space we have available and to be safe to run them with some small jumps that we are in the process of making. Shock protectors are a must too please, we’re hoping to have some made that can be loaned to visiting drivers.
2) Track maintenance! An ongoing thing we really need to sort now with the damage we’re seeing to certain parts. Therefore, we will be finding a date in the diary to do this instead of racing one evening! If we can sweet talk the Miners into letting us in another night, we will, but prepare to lose a night’s racing and help your club out with some fixing of things in the future. Potentially, 4 weeks time.
3) Track layouts: to keep things interesting… There will now be a vote every week when booking in opens, with two track options to choose from! So, we could be on a different track each week to really get your brain cells working. Of course, it’ll be voted for by you guys, the members, so it could be the same track each week if you enjoy it! Purely your choice on this guy’s! This will start after Pay & Play on Tuesday and I can provide a template for designing over the weekend.
4) We are going to get a couple of newer club cars sorted out and working. These can then be hired to any newcomers who want to have a go at our awesome Motorsport! More details on that when we work out which ones. The older club cars have definitely been amazing for us, but they aren’t up there with the current crop of frontie or MChassis, so we feel a refresh would be good for longevity, and means newcomers can then buy a car they have already run from the usual sources.
Aside from the above, we also had a good discussion around the late 80s/90s track at Steam Mills we discovered. Some of the committee will be attending an actual council meeting in May to show them our goals for the area in question and see if we can get a track going. Initial plans are that this would be an AstroTurf off-road circuit, with the potential to build an OnRoad circuit in later years when funds allow.
Right, that’s all from me! Booking in for Tuesdays pay and play is open! I’ll ping the link in the comments, or just head to Megan’s pinned post at the top.
Mark
Chairman.
